I have been driving past Sounds Like (ex. Mad Platter) in Riverside since I was really little. But I started going in there at around the age of 13/14ish. Of course it wasn’t till I got my license that the real damage started. See, I have always been a huge fan of music, and I used to buy a fair amount of CD's. The problem is that the music I listened to and was passionate about was pretty "underground." Sounds Like almost always carried the CD's that I wanted, and I could always listen to them before I bought them. They also had a used CD section (one mans trash, another mans treasure), which I loved. Hey, my band The Enemy Within even played a show there with Sinai Beach.
Well to wrap this up, I have been seeing the gate closed as I drive by, and have been too busy the last few weeks to stop in, and every time I do, they seemed to be closed. So after like 3 weeks of this I finally walked up to the door, to find out that they had closed for good. I was super bummed since I literally probably spent over a thousand dollars there, played a show, and just stopped in to talk to one of the workers Alan. It was a super friendly record store, with good prices and honest business. One of the workers even talked me out of buying a CD, that’s how honest they were. And now they are closed. I’m sad, EFF iTUNES.
