Lars and the Real Girl

Many movies are truly pure in nature. This movie danced on the the line but never ever crossed any line making the movie or any part of it inappropriate. It talked about a "sex doll" and about the "female anatomy" but never in a way to exploit or make woman (or men) feel uncomfortable. It took a subject that usually elicits only sympathy, and made it more real. Compassion emerged and made the film very moving.

I get into movies, especially movies that i like. You can empathize with the characters and go on a journey with each one of them. You begin to understand their own personal journeys, not just the main character. Religion is not made fun of, but instead it is explored subtlety.

I am not a movie buff, or scholarly critic...but i do enjoy a good movie. Although I do still watch movies with pervasive themes, it is still good to watch a movie that entertains and challenges without using whacked out themes and images to boost audiences appeal. Rent this movie.

Randomness (the office)

So I have this querk. Hypothetically if someone (Karrina) were to say, "Hey lets go see live free, die hard." i would say no. Not because i dont want to see it, but only because i haven't seen the preceding ones (thats definitely a dduction of man points), and i feel as though i would not have a sufficient background, therefore adding to my confusion and ruining my theatrical experience. With that said, i decided that i like the show the office. I have seen 2 episodes prior, and thought they were hilarious. My friend offered season 2 or 3, but i had to decline, because of the obvious stated reason. But after tonight i am ready, because i had a season 1 marathon thanks to the rain and mission inn restaurant management. So yes this is a random post, deal with it. There are some more serious ones to come, i promise.

So i met one of my childhood heros...

Well, not really but i did meet Damon Wayans, from In living Color and plenty of other movies etc...As i walk into work, i create small talk with a server from Las Campanas, we really dont have much to talk about, but he was like "hey, Damon Wayans is in the Presidential Lounge." I dont get star struck really, but i thought it would be cool to see him in person. So i walk up there and there he is, sitting at the bar. I decide in my mind to actually talk to him. So..."Excuse me, sorry to interrupt...i am a big fan, and i just wanted to say hi. I dont need an autograph just wanted to say hi." He was actually pretty cool, i shook his hand and he said, "Thanks for introducing yourself." He was actually pretty cool. It just reminded me of going to bed on Sunday nights at 8pm, thats when my bedtime was, and also when In living Color came on. Sometimes, if i ws a good little Gilbert, Mom and Dad would let me stay up and watch. Every other night i would sit in the hallway and watch, just out of view from my parents. That was a hilarious show, period. So that was the beginning of tonights shift. Who have you met?
