BBC and girls

So I have brought up the idea of the inclusion of women into the BBC. It wasnt as easy as I thought. Many good arguments were made for both Pro and Con. The resolution...that a Girls BBC may be started on the beginning of next book. Meeting at the same place, same book, but different group. I agree it should be a natural process of full inclusion, and not just a drastic joining one week and not the next.

My ideas and dreams still stand. One thing I think it to the detriment of church groups, especially high school and college, is the separation of men and women all the time. I believe some is necessary. I feel as if "real conversations" should be had between men AND women. We used to joke about "code Red" and "the M" and girls never understood that we were talking about masturbation, and young mens battle with lust. It became kind of a inside joke between all of the guys in the college group. But what if guys were real with girls about their struggles, and vice versa. Would it encourage jokes, or encourage growth. I can honestly say that sometimes i felt as if our "support group" of guys failed. It failed because we all came expecting to be asked about our lust, we went around a circle and sometimes all the guys were in the same boat (or outside of the same boat) we were all drowning. Sometimes we would challenge ourselves and it worked. So i do not wanna criticize the whole process...

BUT...what if we were real with the girls. We had to see the hurt, and utter disgust that women feel for this particular sin (This sin is an example, i encourage realness with everything on both parts). They could offer remedies that men could never really think of. And the women can learn to maybe understand the shame, guilt, and helplessness that men feel. My point is that men can learn from women, and women can learn from men. They can discuss things, and come to common ideals. They can disagree and move on. The separation does not allow this.

But in the defense of our decision, this will NOT come over night. It MUST be natural. So i believe the "Separate but Equal" decision is the best for the BBC...for now. So any ladies want to join a girls version of the BBC please let Holly know. We are still working out how exactly it will work. Basically it is a place where women can discuss books, concepts, and life, possibly over a drink.
